JSW Foundation takes a deep interest on environmental issues are believe in leading by example. The Foundation's concern for the environment has resulted in the following initiatives:

a. Bio-fuel Plantation:
The Jatropha plantations which is predicted to be the best candidate for future bio diesel production, has been planted in 120 acres in the township of JSW Steel. The same will be developed in agricultural lands of farmers of nearby villages.

b. Rainwater Harvesting:
Rainwater Harvesting is being implemented in nearby villages especially for public buildings such as in schools.

c. Garbage Management:
Garbage Management is a new initiative and three villages have adopted the process of collection, treatment and segregation of waste material. Partnering the initiatives is an awareness campaign the Foundation conducts on a regular basis.

d. Drainage Development:
The village Vaddu is selected for the drainage development program.

JSW Steel started the production in the year 1997 and since then it has been catering to the environmental problems

JSW Steel is continuously striving to reduce the impact of our plant operations on the climate. The Company realize that as a mineral processing industry, it is duty bound to make a substantial contribution to environment management. It has set up a power generating facility using waste gases generated in steel making. This project has been registered by United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change under the Clean Development Mechanism and the estimated emission reduction (tons of CO2) over a 10 year period would be 7,673,254.
