VMPL is a 3 mn tn iron ore mining Company which is situated 25 Km from the integerated steel plant – JSWSL. VMPL - A joint venture between Mysore Minerals Limited (MML), a Govt of Karnataka undertaking and JSW Steel Limited, it mines the iron ore from Thimmappangudi Mine.

During the F.Y. 2007-08, VMPL has supplied 1.20 mt of Iron Ore from Thimmappanagudi, which is 10% higher than the earlier years. VMPL has secured an approval for 2.5 MTPA of production from Government of Karnataka and Government of India and is planning to increase the production accordingly.

VMPL has bagged the Excellency Award for Community Development during Mines Environment & Mineral Conservation Week Celebration 2007 held in February 2007. MSAK award has been given in recognition of VMPL's social upliftment and care for the society surrounding their mine. This has given them the strength and belief that progress and prosperity has to get alongwith society and not in isolation.

VMPL bagged the best overall safety prize for setting a tradition of safe working practice in the region.
