The JSW Group believes that employing advanced technology is what keeps us ahead on the growth curve. JSW Energy and JSW Steel have taken this belief forward by entering into a Joint Venture Agreement with Toshiba Corporation of Japan to form Toshiba JSW Power System Private Limited in 2008.
 
Toshiba, Japan is an acknowledged world leader and innovator in pioneering cutting edge technology and manufacturer of advanced supercritical and ultra -supercritical Turbine and Generator sets. Toshiba JSW Power System Private Limited has been incorporated with a shareholding of 75% by Toshiba Corporation Limited, Japan and 25% by JSW Group to manufacture highly efficient supercritical Steam Turbines and Generators for thermal power plants, in capacities ranging from 500 MW to 1000 MW in India. This supercritical technology will help reduce coal consumption thereby reducing the carbon foot prints of India.
 
The state of the art manufacturing facility of Toshiba JSW Power System Private Limited, at Ennore in Chennai was inaugurated in the presence of Late Selvi J. Jayalalithaa, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and the manufacturing activities commenced in 2011.
 

The manufacturing facility has annual production capacity of 3000 MW and will form a major manufacturing hub to serve the global markets, in addition to Toshiba’s manufacturing base in Keihin, Yokohama, Japan. The Company has already bagged following prestigious orders:
 

  • Kudgi project in the State of Karnataka for supply & installation of 3x800MW supercritical steam turbines and generators from NTPC Limited
  • Meja project in the State of Uttar Pradesh for installation and supply of ancillary items of 2x660MW supercritical steam turbines and generators from Meja Urja Nigam Pvt. Ltd. (a JV company of NTPC & UP Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd)
  • Darlipalli project in the State of Odisha for supply and installation of 2x800MW supercritical steam turbines and generators from NTPC Limited
  • Harduaganj project in the State of Uttar Pradesh for full EPC project 1x660MW from UP Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd.
