JSW Foundation Gets Awarded for its Early Childhood Project

JSW Foundation has been conferred with the prestigious Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) award in India CSR Awards 2018, held in Delhi, for their unique educational initiative – Kilbil, which means chirping of birds in Marathi.

Started in the year 2013, today the project had been able to cover 551 Anganwadi centres, benefitting over 14,000 children in the age group of 3 to 6 years.

Through Kilbil Project, Anganwadi workers and helpers have been trained in a manner that allows them to educate children efficiently. Moreover, this project also sets an example for leaders and organisations to contribute back to the society.

The Kilbil Project

Over the years, the Kilbil Project has focused on strengthening of the Anganwadi centres and workers through various training programs. To ensure this continues, the essence of the project is now being replicated in other JSW locations too.

Some of the key outcomes of the project, based on an independent study are as follows:

  • 97.5% of the Anganwadi centres staff agrees with the fact that the training and learning materials have helped enhance their capabilities.
  • 91.7% of mothers have acknowledged the improvement in the performance of the Anganwadi staffs in terms of knowledge, skills, efficiency, and confidence.
  • The District Program Officer has also noted that Kilbil project has helped in early childhood education program, in Thane district.
  • Government’s Integrated Child Development Scheme’s Extension Officer and Supervisor have observed that the skills of children in various subjects have improved.
