We Are Here to Change the Game
JSW Sports is here to give athletes a chance to live their Olympic dreams

About SEP

The Sports Excellence Program (SEP) is the flagship endeavour of JSW Sports, which currently supports 49 athletes across four disciplines. The SEP provides financial support to these athletes, while also providing opportunities to train under world-class coaches at Olympic training facilities. The programme covers expenses for travel, accommodation, nutrition and sporting equipment, along with access to dedicated physiotherapists. The SEP athletes also have regular access to the state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities at the Inspire Institute of Sport in Bellary for their training when away from national camps.

Since its inception, JSW-SEP athletes have achieved consistent success on the international stage and have contributed multiple medals to the nation’s tally at the Commonwealth and Asian Games. The highlight of the program so far has been Sakshi Malik’s bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics, which made her the first Indian female wrestler to win an Olympic medal. Neeraj Chopra, junior world record holder in javelin throw at the current CWG and Asian Games Champion has also been a part of the SEP since 2015.

Sports Category

Boxing

The JSW-SEP has four boxers within its fold, all of them possessing impressive credentials. Vikas Krishan leads the pack along with Dheeraj Rangi and Satish Kumar. Former World Junior Champion Nikhat Zareen who has recently made the step-up to the senior circuit is the only female boxer supported by the program.

Wrestling

One of the strongest suits in the JSW-SEP kitty, six of the eight wrestlers who will represent India at the Rio Olympics are part of the Program. Starting with Sushil Kumar's Olympic medal in 2008, Indian wrestling has consistently improved and today we are ranked amongst the top nations in the sport.

Track & Field

With four representatives in track and field at Rio, this vertical has also been the JSW-SEP's forte. The JSW-SEP supports middle-distance runners, discus throwers, javelin throwers and jumpers.
