Renewing Our Bond for a Better World
On 26th May, 2018, JSW Foundation and International Crop Research
Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) decided to renew their MoU at
ICRISAT’s headquarters in Patancheru, Telangana.
The first MoU signed between these two companies was in July, 2013, which was
successful in bringing about a significant change in the lives of people dependent
on agriculture.
Since then, both organisations have strived towards enhancing agricultural
productivity and improving the livelihood of people from the Bellari district of
Karnataka.
Kick-starting the 2nd Phase of Agriculture Growth
in
Bellari
Mr. Peter S. Carberry, Director General, ICRISAT and Mr. Biswadip Gupta, CEO, JSW
Foundation,
renewed their partnership by signing an MoU at ICRISAT’s headquarters in
Patancheru,
Telangana, on 26th May, 2018.
With the new MoU in place, the companies will work towards equipping the locals with
the
technology they require to make the agribusiness profitable in these drylands. Their
aim is
to accomplish this within 5 years, starting from 1st June, 2018.
Together, they
hope to:
- Stabilize the integrated watershed management model developed by ICRISAT and
scale it up
to the surrounding areas.
- Enhance the productivity and profitability of the farmers and farmer community
in the
Bellari district of Karnataka.
