A mechanical engineer by training, Mr. Sajjan Jindal has been instrumental in transforming the functioning of the Indian steel industry with his progressive engagement of all stakeholders in the development process at JSW Steel. Under his leadership, JSW Group over the years has expanded in other core sectors of the economy such as power generation, infrastructure building and cement manufacturing.

Dr Vinod Nowal is the Deputy Managing Director of JSW Steel. Dr Nowal has shared an association with JSW that spans almost three decades. He joined Jindal Iron and Steel Co (JISCO) as the Works Manager in 1984 in Tarapur. He also handled Operations and the Commercial department of both Vasind and Tarapur plants. In an inspiring story of growth through dedication, he worked his way to the post of Executive Director in JISCO. He was appointed Director-Commercial of JSW Steel in 2004 and took charge as Director and CEO of JSW Steel in 2009. Dr Nowal spearheaded the Company’s meteoric expansion from 4MTPA to 10 MTPA in a short time.
In his career, Dr. Nowal has been at the helm of various prestigious organizations. He was the President of the Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC), Bangalore. He is serving as the President of Karnataka Iron and Steel Manufacturers’ Association (KISMA).Dr Nowal has also rendered his services as the President of TIMA (Tarapur Industrial Manufacturers Associations, Tarapur, which represents 1200 industries of Tarapur MIDC) from 1999 to 2004. He was the President of Lions Club of Tarapur in 1990 – 91. He then moved on to becoming the zonal Chairman in 1998 – 99, Region – V. Dr Nowal further became the Regional Chairman 2000-2001 and was also a Patron of Chinmay Mission School, Tarapur. Dr. Nowal holds a Master Degree in Business Administration and a Doctorate in Inventory Management.
Mr. Sagar is the Joint Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of JSW Energy. He is an alumnus of Sri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi and holds a Management Degree from the University of Delhi. He has over three decades of wide experience and a keen acumen for business development with a pronounced skill for resolving issues related to Government Policy and procedure, of which he has a deep understanding. Mr. Sagar has provided effective leadership in bringing the RWPL project firmly back on the road to completion. Mr. Sagar is also credited with operationalising the Kapurdi Lignite mine as a source of fuel for the Barmer Project in record time. Until recently, he was Managing Director on the Board of Barmer Lignite Mining Company Limited (BLMCL), the joint venture of Raj WestPower Limited with Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Limited, where he continues to be Director.
Capt. Sharma is a Master Mariner who joined the JSW Group in 2003 as Joint Managing Director and CEO of JSW Infrastructure. His present responsibilities include development and operations of private, commercial and captive terminals, helping the Group negotiate shipping contracts and optimizing sea freight, port and logistics cost inputs in the steel business. Capt. Sharma played a significant role in making the Mundra Port one of the best-managed private commercial ports in India. Capt. Sharma holds a Certificate of Competency as Master (Foreign Going), and has attended the Shipping Management course in IIM, Ahmedabad. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Ship Brokers, London (MICS) and a former member of the International Harbour Masters Association
One of the senior leaders of JSW Steel, Mr Acharya has a multi-faceted background. He is a chemical engineer with a Masters in Physics from BITS, Pilani (1986) and an MBA in Marketing from Indore University.
Mr Acharya is a veteran in the steel industry with 24 years of experience that spans the entire range of flat and long steel products. Over the years, he has acquired wide-ranging experience of the steel business, having worked in various capacities and locations in India. His extensive experience includes start-up operations, development and execution of strategies for leveraging new markets and customers, creation of strong brand equity for the company in the domestic and international markets and introduction of innovative marketing concepts.
Mr. Prashant Jain is a Mechanical Engineering Graduate from Dayal Bagh Educational Institute, Agra. His expansive and illustrious career started in 1992 at DCM Shriram Industries and he subsequently joined JSW Steel in 1995.He has an extensive experience in corporate strategy, mergers & acquisitions, commercial functions, projects development and management, operations, land acquisition, regulatory management and corporate affairs.
He is also on the board of JSW Bengal Steel, JSW Jharkhand Steel, Rhone Coal Co and Barbil Beneficiation Co. Presently he is the Head of Corporate Strategy and Development for JSW group responsible for new business development, expansion of existing businesses, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, corporate affairs and investor relations. He is also spearheading the Jharkhand project, wherein the Group is setting up a 10 MTPA greenfield integrated steel plant along with an iron ore and coking coal mine in the state. Mr. Jain is a member of various committees of ASSOCHAM, CII and World Steel Association. He is also an alumni of the Swedish Institute Management Programme.
Dr S Majumdar is the Chief Sustainability Officer for the JSW Group, and is responsible for the design, development and implementation of a sustainability framework that enhances global competitiveness.
Dr Majumdar has 21 years of rich, qualitative experience in the fields of corporate sustainability, sustainability strategy, climate change, environment management, CSR, voluntary disclosures, business excellence and sustainability performance assessment. He has handled policy work, research, capacity building and consulting assignments for various sectors, has worked with the government and industry, and is familiar with emerging concepts, issues and opportunities for businesses.
Prior to joining JSW he worked in the Confederation of Indian Industry [CII]as Principal Counsellor at the CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development. Earlier, he was with Procter & Gamble India handling Environment, Regulatory Affairs, Technical External Relations and Sustainability.
Apart from being a reputed corporate trainer in Sustainability Excellence, Sustainability Management and Corporate Climate Change Strategy, he is also a Lead Auditor for the Social Accountability 8000 Management System (SA 8000) accredited by the Social Accountability International (SAI), New York. Not only did he lead the CII-ITC Sustainability Awards since its inception in 2006, he also served as the Principal Investigator for the Preparation of India’s National Communications on GHG Emission Inventory by the Government of India to the UN for the Industrial Processes & Product Use sector. He is recognized by the Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India as a technical expert in the field of climate change, GHG emissions inventory and CDM.
He has ranked 1st in India in GATE, was awarded the JawaharLal Nehru Memorial Fund Prize for ranking 1st in the University in M.Sc., and won the gold medal for 1st rank in the University in B.Sc.
