India’s mobility landscape is moving steadily towards electrification, driven by rising urbanisation, growing vehicle demand and the need for cleaner mobility solutions. JSW’s mobility businesses—JSW Green Mobility Limited and JSW MG Motor India—are contributing to this transition by building an integrated electric mobility ecosystem spanning passenger vehicles, commercial fleets, buses, battery technologies, charging infrastructure and mobility services.

JSW Green Mobility’s vision is anchored in manufacturing capability and scale. The Group has committed up to USD 3 billion (approximately ₹25,000 crore) over five years through its automotive arm to build a comprehensive electric mobility ecosystem.
The company has signed MoUs with the State Governments of Gujarat and Maharashtra to establish manufacturing facilities supporting electric vehicle production at scale. It expects to launch electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles from FY2025-26, while its commercial mobility arm, JSW Greentech Limited, has already deployed its first fleet of 100 electric staff buses for operations at JSW Steel, Dolvi.
The upcoming state-of-the-art greenfield manufacturing facility at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, is being developed as a base for EV manufacturing operations, with production lines, battery assembly, research and supplier integration facilities. Together, these investments are aimed at strengthening domestic EV manufacturing and the wider Indian supply chain.
JSW’s mobility strategy extends beyond vehicle manufacturing. It encompasses the infrastructure and technologies needed to support the wider transition to electric mobility, including local sourcing, production capacity, charging infrastructure, battery technologies and mobility services.
The Group is also exploring battery storage applications through JSW Energy, including solutions for telecom, micro-grids and solar storage. These capabilities complement the broader ecosystem required to support the growth of electric mobility in India.
A key part of this strategy is the JSW MG Motor India joint venture, formed in 2019 between JSW Group and SAIC Motor, with JSW Group holding a 35% stake in the Indian JV.

JSW MG Motor India has established a strong presence in India’s EV market, having sold over 1,50,000 electric vehicles since its first EV launch. The company has also expanded its EV market share to 35% from 26% in CY2024, registering 14% year-on-year growth in August 2026 with wholesale sales of 7,508 units.
The MG Windsor was India’s No. 1-selling EV in 2025. Developed for Indian conditions, it combines advanced battery technology, intelligent features and affordability to support more accessible sustainable mobility.
In July 2026, JSW MG Motor India unveiled MG ADAPT, India’s first Multi New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Platform. The architecture supports EV, HEV, PHEV and REEV technologies on a single platform, offering greater flexibility across powertrain technologies.
In August 2026, MG launched the MG Hector Tomahawk in EV and PHEV variants, its first SUV built on the ADAPT platform. The expanding portfolio reflects the company's approach to offering multiple new-energy powertrain options for the Indian market.
The shift to electric mobility is an important part of India’s efforts to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and address rising emissions. Government initiatives such as the FAME scheme, launched in 2015, have supported domestic EV manufacturing and adoption through policy support and consumer incentives.
JSW Green Mobility complements this transition through investments in electric vehicle manufacturing, charging infrastructure, battery technologies and cleaner commercial mobility. By building capabilities across the value chain, the Group is supporting the development of a more integrated and locally anchored EV ecosystem.
As India’s electric mobility market continues to expand, the transition will increasingly depend on the availability of vehicles, batteries, charging infrastructure and supporting technologies at scale. JSW’s investments across these areas are aimed at contributing to that ecosystem while strengthening India’s domestic manufacturing capabilities.
From a USD 3 billion investment commitment and new manufacturing capabilities to its 35% stake in JSW MG Motor India, 100 electric staff buses at Dolvi and investments across charging and energy-storage solutions, JSW is building capabilities across the electric mobility value chain.
Through its partnership with MG Motor India, the Group is also expanding the range of new-energy vehicles available to Indian consumers, while investing in technologies and infrastructure that can support the next phase of India’s mobility transition.
Together, these efforts position JSW Green Mobility as an important contributor to India’s shift towards electric and new-energy mobility, combining manufacturing scale, technology partnerships and ecosystem development to support a cleaner and more locally integrated mobility future.
