Hampi Art Labs

JSW Foundation is proud to introduce Hampi Art Labs - a new arts centre near the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hampi in Karnataka. Launched in February 2024, Hampi Art Labs is part of a 30-year legacy of supporting art and heritage in India. It is founded by Sangita Jindal and her daughter Tarini Jindal Handa and is an initiative of JSW Foundation - the social development arm of the US$ 23 billion JSW Group, one of India’s leading business houses.

This nine-acre facility comprises exhibition spaces, studios, gardens, a café and apartments for residencies. The centre offers artists unique production facilities, a creatively invigorating environment and world-class galleries for display. Located at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hampi and also near the last capital of the last great Hindu Kingdom of Vijayanagar, the centre is founded on an ethos of building an interdisciplinary institution inspired by the ancient temple city where art, architecture, and literature flourished from the 14th to 16th centuries. Uniquely born of a place where art, heritage and nature intermingle, Hampi Art Labs sits in a spectacular setting dominated by the river Tungabhadra, craggy hill ranges and intriguingly large boulders that lend the landscape its distinct identity.

We are also proud to initiate the Hampi Art Labs' programming aimed at engaging the local community and international visitors with contemporary art in all its forms. Learning activities and workshops will be developed for schools in the area. The centre seeks to create cultural links across the Global South through its residencies, programming & collaborations with like-minded institutions and organisations.
