JSW Foundation Extends Support to Maharashtra Government’s Project MahaDeva

15 December, 2025

JSW Foundation has announced its support for the Government of Maharashtra’s grassroots football development initiative, Project MahaDeva, reaffirming its commitment to nurturing young sporting talent and promoting inclusion through sport.

Project MahaDeva was jointly launched by Hon’ble Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and legendary footballer Lionel Messi in Mumbai. The initiative aims to identify and nurture under- 13 football talent from rural and tribal regions across all 36 districts of Maharashtra, providing a structured pathway from grassroots potential to professional training.

As part of its support, JSW Foundation Chairperson Mrs. Sangita Jindal presented a cheque of ₹75 lakh towards the programme. In addition, JSW Foundation will support 30 girl players under the project’s elite cohort, enabling access to professional coaching, academic support and mental conditioning. The initiative places a strong emphasis on creating opportunities for girls and strengthening long-term talent development at the grassroots level.

JSW Foundation’s association with Project MahaDeva aligns with its broader focus on leveraging sport as a catalyst for social development, empowerment and leadership, particularly among young people from underserved communities.

The announcement was made during the GOAT India Tour 2025, for which JSW was the premium sponsor across Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi. JSW's support to the project underscores the Group’s commitment to supporting excellence in sport while investing in its future.
